Ready Rosie

Our family partnership this year will provide the ReadyRosie learning website so you can enjoy powerful learning games and expert videos that support you and your child in his/her learning. ReadyRosie is a free tool that provides meaningful activities and you can do at home with your child. The best part is that each activity/ game is modeled in a 2-minute video, so you and your child can watch together and then do the activity! You also get videos of experts in the field of child development to answer those questions you might have.

Home Studies Reading Corner- New Read-Aloud Books Every Friday!

Make reading time part of your daily routine with children. Children learn to love the sound of language before they even notice the existence of printed words on a page. Reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word. When the rhythm and melody of language become a part of a child's life, learning to read will be as natural as learning to walk and talk.

HOME STUDIES READ-ALOUD BOOKS

Summer Color! by Diana Murray

In this celebration of the outdoors, two rambunctious children take off on an adventure from their own backyard. In each new scene, they discover the wondrous details--and beautiful colors--of nature. Even when a little summer rain threatens to dampen their grand adventure, the fun continues as woodland scenes come to life in a whole new way.

Summer Supper by Rubin Pfeffer

From sowing seeds in spring to savoring succotash, follow the creation of a family meal from the farm to the picnic table on a warm summer evening. Told entirely in words beginning with the letter “S”!

Summer Days and Nights by Wong Herbert Yee

On a hot summer day, a little girl finds ways to entertain herself and stay cool. She catches a butterfly, sips lemonade, jumps in a pool, and goes on a picnic. At night, she sees an owl in a tree and a frog in a pond, and hears leaves rustling. Before long, she's fast asleep, dreaming about more summer days and summer nights.

Mama, Is It Summer Yet? by Nikki McClure

Young children see the passage of time through the seasonal changes to the world around them in this charming book, illustrated with Nikki McClure’s extraordinary cut-paper art. A little boy who can’t wait for summer keeps asking his mama, “Is it summer yet?” Mama says, “Not yet, little one,” then points to the signs that spring is turning to summer—the softening of the earth, the nest-building of squirrels, the singing of birds—and encourages her son to savor the beauty of spring.
