Lyn-CAG Head Start program serves children ages three to five years old, from low-income families. Head Start promotes the school readiness of children, by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development. Our Head Start programs provide learning environments that support children’s growth in many areas such as language, literacy, and mathematics. Head Start emphasizes the role of parents as their child’s first and most important teacher. These programs help build relationships with families that support family well-being and many other important areas. 

Head Start in-person classroom instruction is provided at the following sites:

• Head Start Lynchburg @ 701 Thomas Road Lynchburg, VA 24502 & 805 15th Street Lynchburg, VA 24502 (@ the Hope Diamond Hill Early Learning Center)
• Head Start Amherst @ Madison Heights Elementary School & Amherst Elementary School
• Head Start Bedford @ 1364 American Way Court Bedford, VA 24523
• Head Start Stewartsville @ Stewartsville Elementary School
• Head Start Big Island @ Big Island Elementary School

Growing Learners Early Learning Center's purpose is to help the creative minds of young children to thrive and grow socially, emotionally, cognitively, and academically.  The Growing Learners allows each child to develop physically, socially, and cognitively according to individual learning styles. Each child is considered unique in temperament and their rate of development. A creative curriculum is planned to enhance and challenge distinct individual needs, interests, and abilities. Activities and relationships occur in a healthy, positive, and relaxed environment where a well-qualified staff provides each child with personal attention, guidance, and nurturing. We offer all-day childcare for ages 2.5 to 5 years old. Before and after school options are available for Head Start and Lynchburg City Schools students ages 3 to 8.

The Growing Learners Early Learning Center is located at 701 Thomas Road, RCI Building, 2nd Floor, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
